Pick Materials

We’re often asked about the different kinds of plastic we use to manufacture our picks, what is the difference between each of them?
Without getting into too much technical detail, here’s a brief overview of the different plastics we use and what they’ll do for your playing.

Nylon

Our Nylon picks, or PERFORMER Seriesas theyre known, are our softest and most flexible grade of pick. This pick launched our company back in 1991 and is still very popular today.

Nylon picks typically have a very slick surface which gives great string release and makes these picks perfect for strumming and particularly suited to acoustic playing. To counteract the slick nature of these picks, we added raised lettering for grip.

Our Nylon PERFORMER Series picks are available in 4 different gauges, 0.65, 0.75, 0.85 and 1.00mm. We don't custom print onto these picks because the ink doesn't adhere well to Nylon.

Celluloid

Celluloid, as a material, actually pre-dates most modern plastics and has been used to manufacture guitar picks since the beginning of the 20th Century. Due to its long history, celluloid has become one of the most popular guitar pick materials amongst guitar players all over the world.

Our Celluloid picks are available in a large variety of colours and 6 different gauges 0.46, 0.71, 0.81. 0.96, 1.14 and 1.35mm making this a very versatile choice. Due to the vintage nature of these picks, they produce a warm rounded tone and are a Grover Allman favourite.

These picks are particularly suited to customisation and can easily be printed with logos, full colour photos and metallic look inks.

Delrinex

Our Delrinex guitar picks are manufactured from an Acetal Polymer, a material that is known to have some great engineering properties such as high wear resistance, high friction and outstanding stiffness.

We post process these picks to give a fine textured finish that offers increased grip. Available in the following gauges 0.65, 0.80 and 1.00mm these picks are suitable for printing with your own artwork, full colour photos or metallic look ink. We can also custom etch these picks, a process that takes your artwork and embosses it into the surface of the pick without colour, often increasing the grip even further.

These picks are great for most musical styles and are especially suited to alternate picking. The high wear resistance makes these picks suitable for more aggressive playing styles.
